The resort is just minutes from the charming town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, with its art galleries, boutique shops, and acclaimed restaurants. Explore the nearby Pacific Grove, the scenic 17-Mile Drive, and the iconic Pebble Beach While the resort is set in a tranquil, wooded area, car rentals are recommended for exploring the surrounding attractions. Free parking is available on-site. Public transportation options and taxis are limited, but the resort’s concierge can assist with arranging private tours or local transportation services. The scenic drive from Carmel Highlands to Big Sur is truly breathtaking and an experience not to be missed. The 25-mile journey south to Nepenthe, a favorite restaurant in Big Sur, takes you past iconic landmarks like the Bixby Creek Bridge and Rocky Creek Bridge—both of which are perfect stops for photos. Along the way, make sure to visit Vista Point, Garrapata State Park, Hurricane Point, and Pfeiffer Beach—each offering unique views and natural beauty. Just south of Pfeiffer Beach, you’ll find the renowned Post Ranch and Alila Ventana resorts. For those flying into Monterey, we recommend stopping at Trader Joe’s on Munras Avenue to stock up for the week before heading to the villa. A must-try while you’re there is a sandwich from Ike’s, located just around the corner. Trader Joe’s is only 8 miles from the villa, while a Safeway at 5 Crossroads Blvd & Hwy 1 in Carmel is a quick 4 miles away, offering groceries as well as a CVS and other shops. For quick stops, there's a gas station and convenience store just ¾ mile down Hwy 1 from the villa for snacks, drinks, and last-minute items. We have yet to try Uber Eats, but we have some favorite local restaurants. On property, Pacific Edge offers excellent brunch and dinner options. In Carmel, we recommend La Bicyclette for pizza, Portabella, Dametra, Flaherty’s, and Casanova for more dining options. A visit to Point Lobos for a hike is also a must. Kids will enjoy the lively atmosphere at Carmel Beach, and don't miss the famous sights just north of Carmel—Pebble Beach, the 17-Mile Drive, the Lone Cypress, China Rock, Asilomar Beach, Point Pinos Lighthouse, and the Monterey Aquarium along Cannery Row.
